Frequently asked questions

Before ordering

What is the difference between a regular and a sworn translation?

A sworn translation is produced by a translator who has taken an oath before a court. It carries her seal, a registration number and her signature, which gives it official value with the authorities. A regular translation has no legal value. More on the About page.

Which documents do you translate?

Among others: civil status records (birth, marriage, death), transcripts and diplomas (Baccalauréat, GCE, Licence, Master’s), certificates, judgments, contracts and articles of association. Detailed pages: Birth certificate, Transcript, GCE O-Level / A-Level, Diploma. Languages: French ⇄ German, and English ⇄ German (through a partner sworn translator).

Do you also translate English documents?

Yes, from English into German and from German into English, for example a GCE certificate. These translations are done by a partner sworn translator. You order and pay here as usual, at the same prices and delivery times.

Will my translation be accepted by the German authorities?

As a rule, yes: translations by a translator sworn in Germany are recognised by immigration offices, universities, registry offices and embassies. Some institutions additionally require an apostille or legalisation of the original; that remains your responsibility.

Do I need to send the original document?

No, a complete and legible scan or photo is enough. Make sure all pages, stamps and signatures are visible.

How do I count the pages?

Count every side of the original that contains text. A GCE slip with the grading scale on the back therefore counts as 2 pages.

Payment

How do I pay from Cameroon?

By Orange Money in CFA francs: the euro amount is converted at the fixed rate of €1 = 655.957 FCFA and rounded up to the nearest 100 FCFA. The number, the recipient and the exact amount are shown in the order form. You can also pay by SEPA bank transfer. Either way, enter the payment reference in the form.

Why do I pay before ordering?

Work starts as soon as payment is received; that’s what makes the delivery times reliable. They count from that day.

Delivery

How long does delivery take?

Express: 2 business days. Standard: 4 business days. Delivery times start once payment and all documents have been received; weekends and public holidays don’t count. Postal delivery of the original takes additional time.

How will I receive my translation?

First by email as a signed and stamped PDF, then the certified original by post, postage included. Postal delivery to Cameroon is not possible: there you receive the translation in electronic form (signed and stamped PDF).

Can I have the original sent to a different address?

Yes. Enter the full delivery address in the “Note” field of that document.

After ordering

What if the translation contains an error or a name is misspelled?

Report it by email within [14] days of delivery and it will be corrected free of charge. Tip: give the spelling of names as in the passport when ordering.

What happens to my documents?

They are treated strictly confidentially, under professional secrecy. Uploaded files are deleted automatically 30 days after upload. More in the privacy policy.

My file is too large. What can I do?

Each file can be up to 4 MB, the whole order up to 20 MB. Photos are compressed automatically. If that’s not enough, send the document via WhatsApp to +49 15565615898.
