Terms and conditions
These terms apply to every translation order placed through this website. Only the German version is legally binding.
Scope
These terms govern all contracts for certified translations between Célestine Epiphanie Herzog (“the translator”) and her customers. Deviating terms only apply if the translator agrees to them in writing.
Conclusion of the contract
By submitting the order form you make a binding offer. The contract is concluded when the translator confirms the order by email or starts the translation.
Services
The translator produces certified translations from French into German and from German into French and certifies that they are accurate and complete with respect to the document provided. The authenticity of the document is not verified.
Translations from English into German and from German into English are produced and certified by a partner sworn translator; the translator remains your contracting party. The same prices and delivery times apply.
The translation is first sent by email as a signed and stamped PDF; the certified original is then sent by post to the address given in the order. Postage is included in the price. If you request a special shipping method (e.g. express), the extra costs are borne by you. Postal delivery to Cameroon is not possible; customers there receive the translation in electronic form (signed and stamped PDF).
Customer obligations
You provide complete, legible scans or photos and state the required spelling of names (e.g. as in your passport). Illegible passages are marked as such in the translation.
Prices and payment
The per-page prices shown on the website at the time of ordering apply. All prices include statutory VAT.
Payment is made in advance by SEPA bank transfer or Orange Money. Work begins once payment has been received.
For Orange Money payments, the euro amount is converted into CFA francs (XAF) at the fixed rate of €1 = 655.957 FCFA and rounded up to the nearest 100 FCFA. Orange Money fees are paid by the payer.
Delivery times
Delivery times (Express: 2 business days, Standard: 4 business days) start once payment and all documents have been received. Weekends and public holidays do not count. They apply to the PDF; postal delivery of the original takes additional time.
Delivery times are estimates and are extended accordingly if documents are incomplete or hard to read.
Recognition by authorities
Certified translations by a translator sworn in Germany are generally recognised by German authorities. No guarantee can be given for any particular authority; additional requirements (e.g. apostille, legalisation) are your responsibility.
Defects
Obvious defects must be reported by email within [14] days of delivery. The translator corrects justified defects free of charge.
Liability
The translator is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health.
In cases of slight negligence, she is only liable for breach of essential contractual obligations, limited to the damage typically foreseeable for this type of contract.
Right of withdrawal
Right of withdrawal: you have the right to withdraw from this contract within fourteen days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is fourteen days from the day the contract is concluded.
To exercise this right, you must inform us (Célestine Epiphanie Herzog, Moltkestraße 15, 76829 Landau in der Pfalz, phone: +49 155 65615898, email: services@herzog-translations.com) of your decision by an unequivocal statement (e.g. a letter sent by post or an email). You may use the model withdrawal form below, but it is not obligatory. To meet the deadline, it is sufficient to send your communication before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal: if you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse all payments received from you without undue delay and no later than fourteen days from the day we are informed of your decision, using the same means of payment as for the original transaction unless expressly agreed otherwise; you will not incur any fees for this reimbursement.
If you requested that the services begin during the withdrawal period, you shall pay us an amount proportionate to what has been provided until you informed us of your withdrawal, in comparison with the full coverage of the contract.
The right of withdrawal expires once the translator has fully performed the service, having started only after your express consent and your acknowledgement that you lose your right of withdrawal once the contract has been fully performed.

Confidentiality
The translator treats all documents confidentially. For details on data processing, see the privacy policy.
Final provisions
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. For consumers, this only applies insofar as it does not deprive them of mandatory protection under the law of their country of residence.
The place of jurisdiction for merchants is Landau in der Pfalz. Should any provision be invalid, the remainder of the contract remains valid.
